Steve Jobs Memorial Attended by CEOs, Celebs, and a Former President

A private memorial service was held for Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs on Sunday at Stanford Memorial Church. Among the hundreds of people in attendance were celebrities, politicians, and tech industry big wigs.

Apple was “tight-lipped” about the event, but Apple 2.0 obtained the names of some of the people present, which includes former president Bill Clinton, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, Google CEO Larry Page, and many others.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Apple senior vice president of iOS Scott Forstall were there, as well as former vice president and current Apple board member Al Gore.

Lead singer of U2, Bono was also in attendance. U2 famously has had ties with Apple for several years. In 2004, Apple released a U2-branded iPod, and the band’s music has been featured in Apple commercials.

Also present was News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch and News Corp chief technical officer Jon Miller. News Corp and Apple worked close together to develop The Daily, News Corp’s iPad newspaper, which the companies jointly released in February.

Actor Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Toy Story movies, was at the memorial, too. Jobs acquired Pixar in 1986 and sold it to Disney two decades later for $7.4 billion. Pixar’s chief creative officer John Lasseter was there as well.

Of course myriad tech industry figures showed up to pay their respects such as Oracle CEO Larry Ellison,  Dell chief Michael Dell, and Adobe co-founders John Warnock and Chuck Geschke, among others.

Apple 2.0 said former first lady of California Maria Shriver, singer Joan Baez, actor Stephen Fry, and hundreds of others joined in the memorial on Sunday.
